LG ShOwS oFF world's slimmest full-HD smartphone screen

LG's new 5.2-inch LCD panel is a mere 2.2mm thick, while its bezel measures just 2.3mm and will pave the way for lighter phones with larger visible displays.
Unveiled in Seoul by the company's LG Display arm, the panel also boasts higher contrast and brightness levels, plus quicker touch-response times than existing LCD screens due to a new manufacturing process the company has developed; called "Advanced One Glass Solution," it uses dual printed circuits and a special clear resin for bonding the display panel and the touch film together.
But LG didn't go to all of this trouble just to break a record or claim a world first. As consumers turn increasingly to mobile devices for multimedia content such as films and video clips and gaming, screens need to be bigger and brighter and be able to work just as well indoors and outdoors.
And, because the panels are so slim, this extra display performance will not mean extra weight or bulk in a user's pocket or bag. Reducing the screen bezel to just 2.3mm means that a smartphone need only be a few millimeters wider and longer than its display.
